Destinations have always marketed themselves with idealized images. Today’s it’s in the form of perfect photographs, but decades ago, the images were colourful paintings that appeared on posters and other types of advertising.
Those vintage images evoke a certain sort of nostalgia for modern travellers and even though the art can sometimes be filled with outdated stereotypes, they still enjoy popularity as decorative objects.
